Blog Tour Stop with Review - The Book-Lover's Retreat by Heidi Swain

Welcome to my blog tour stop and review of The Book-Lover's Retreat by Heidi Swain!

What They Say:

One long summer. One perfect setting. Can fiction inspire real life…?

Sometimes a book grabs you by the heart and grows to mean everything to you. That’s what
Hope Falls is to friends Emily, Rachel and Tori. So, when they get the chance to spend a whole summer at the cottage in Lakeside where the film adaptation was located, they know it is going to be the holiday of a lifetime.
Spending six weeks away will give them a chance to re-evaluate their life choices. For Emily to decide which way her career will go – the safe route, or the more risky creative option? And for Rachel to decide whether to move in with her partner Jeremy. Then Tori has to drop out at the last moment, and her space is offered to another
Hope Falls afficionado, Alex.
But when Alex turns out not to be who they expected, the holiday takes an unforeseen turn. And as the summer develops, so does their friendship. Could this be where they uncover their future selves, find love in all its forms and where their lives will change course forever…?

What I Say:

Heidi Swain is one of my go-to authors when I need cheering up. Her stories are always heart-warming, charming and sweet. But that's not to say there is no drama and angst too. The BLR is absolutely typical Heidi style, but it's also much, much more.

This story about a group of friends who are fanatics of a certain book and the subsequent film adaptation, which is set in the Lake District. I absolutely adored a book being set "oop North", particularly as Heidi usually writes about locations I've never visited, but am desperate to. The book and film featured is entirely fictional, (I had to ask Heidi, as it all seems so real and plausible, and I want to read THAT book too!), but would make a great follow on book for all of us who have read and loved BLR. I feel like that made no sense, but I know what I was trying to say!

The characters are absolute perfection (except one, and IYKYK). The tension and drama was delicious and the connections between them all was so real. I want to go on holiday with them! The dialogue was so easy to follow, and flowed perfectly.

Honestly, I can't fault a single second of this book! Next time someone asks me which fictional book I would most like to live in, it will absolutely, no hesitation, be The Book-Lover's Retreat by Heidi Swain!! I adored this book, I have already read it twice and I will recommend it to EVERYONE! 11/10

The Book-Lover's Retreat is out now in Paperback and E-book!!

2015: The year of working, laughing, loving and living

Well, here we are. A week and a half into the new year. Are you all sticking to your resolutions? I am, so far. I decided that I want to be more Sparkly. That to me, means happier, nicer, more kind and caring. It means feeling good about myself and my choices. It means feeling free to love and laugh. Over the years I have lost my giggle. That was one thing my Mum told me in a letter she wrote me before she died. Never stop giggling. And I'm sad to say I did stop. People have noticed, family and friends have commented on it. My fiancé has mentioned it more than once and it was starting to cause problems. I got quite depressed and struggled on a daily basis. Books were kind of a saving grace as was Twitter. But the real world and my REAL life were shut out. So, this year I have decided to change all of that. 2015 is my year of laughing, loving, travelling, working, smiling, playing and giggling. I will still read and review, but only the books I choose. No more blog tours unl...

Welcome to my stop on the Blog blitz for the fabulous third Instalment in the DI Robyn Carter series! What They Say: One girl found dead. Another girl gone... Long shadows danced on the tin walls.
