My Review of Starring Kitty by Keris Stainton

The first in a new series about first love and friendship by much-loved teen author Keris Stainton Sometimes the greatest love stories happen behind the scenes… Kitty's keeping secrets. Like how she's struggling to cope with her mum's illness. And how she's falling for the girl with the purpley-red hair... A fun film competition with her friends Sunny and Hannah seems like the perfect distraction. But then Dylan wants to be more than Kitty's secret. Is Kitty ready to let her two worlds meet or will she risk losing Dylan forever? What I Say: I'm already a huge fan of Keris' books and I think she's one to watch in the YA genre, so I was really excited when my copy of Starring Kitty arrived for collection at my local Waterstones. This is a sweet story of first love and finding your identity. Kitty is a typical teen girl with typical friends and to those outside, her life is pretty normal. But Kitty has secrets. She has a Mum who is ill and is str

Blog Tour Stop - Challenge Carol!

Challenge Carol! Humorous author, Carol E. Wyer has just taken launching a new book to a new level. To coincide with the forthcoming release of her seventh book, Carol will be taking on some unusual challenges including belly dancing, a ‘Bush Tucker’ trial, zorbing and zip lining while playing a kazoo and indoor skydiving. Carol says, “After completing the book I suddenly had an urge to have a go at some of the challenges that the characters face. So, I thought, why not? The inner child in me went crazy with delight and encouraged me to commit to a few mad challenges before I remembered how old I really am. It’s too late to back out now so, we’ll have to see how they work out.” The first challenge is in London at GoApe where she will attempt to zipline while playing a kazoo and try not to land on her publisher who is accompanying her. You can see the results at her blog or YouTube. Her latest release, Three Little Birds due out August 15 th is a tale of friendship, s

My Review of Sunlounger 2 by Belinda Jones Travel Company

I don’t think I even need to tell you how excited I’ve been for this collection of stories to come out! I think the buzz from the launch party etc probably was a clue… I can honestly say that I really enjoyed every single story and have read most of them twice. But I picked a few of the stories that really grabbed me from Sunlounger 2 to review. I have just done tiny little snippet reviews as I’m a busy girl (not really, just lazy!) Hinterland by Hannah Beckerman –  Destination: Indonesia. Unexpected twist! Loved it! Singapore Fling by Rosie Blake –  Destination: Singapore. Sooo cute! Gorgeous pool and really funny! How to Have Your Best Summer Ever! by Lisa Dickenson – Destination: Australia. Laughed so hard I nearly wee’d! Just so good, total 90s heaven!! We Found Love  by Ilana Fox – Destination: The Future. Just breathtaking and incredible. I sobbed through it all. Connecting Flights by Poppy Dolan –  Destination: Spain. So funny, unexpected and sexy. Dreams o

My Review of Where Love Lies by Julie Cohen

What They Say:   Lately, Felicity just can't shake a shadow of uncertainty. Her husband Quinn is the kindest person she knows and loves her peculiarities more than Felicity feels she deserves. But suddenly it's as if she doesn't quite belong. Then Felicity experiences something extraordinary: a scent of perfume in the air which evokes memories that have been settled within her for a long time, untouched and undisturbed. As it happens again and again, the memories of a man Felicity hasn't seen for ten years also flutter to the surface. And so do the feelings of being deeply, exquisitely in love . . . Overwhelmed and bewildered by her emotions, Felicity tries to resist sinking blissfully into the past. But what if something truly isn't as it should be? What if her mind has been playing tricks on her heart? Which would you trust? What I Say: I struggle reading Julie's work. I love her on Twitter, I love the idea of  her books and she's such

Hippy Life Continues.

Ok, so we've been living in our cosy little caravan for, what, about 6 weeks now. And I gotta tell ya. Life is good. I've never felt so peaceful and contented. Don't get me wrong, we still have our little spats about work and stuff, but nothing like we used to have. Every morning we wake up and it's bright, no matter how gloomy it is outside, it's bright in here. That's probably down to the pink curtains, but I like it! We have breakfast together outside if it's not raining and then he goes off to work. I sort my Dad out and then spend an hour doing whatever needs doing. Whether it be boring stuff like laundry or ebay, or it could be reading or writing if nothing else needs me. I then roll into work for an hour or 2 and sort out postage etc. When that's done, I do a bit of food shopping and come back home. The rest of the day is mine. I spend a lot of time reading outside. It's great! I'm tanned for the first time since I left Canada! In the

A Few Older Book Reviews

A Few Older Book Reviews All In One Blog Post           I decided to compile some of my favourite older book reviews and plonk them here in one blog post, just because I felt like it. :) So… Build A Man by Talli Roland “Slave to the rich and the rude, cosmetic surgery receptionist Serenity Holland longs for the day she’s a high-flying tabloid reporter. When she meets Jeremy Ritchie — the hang-dog man determined to be Britain’s Most Eligible Bachelor by making himself over from head to toe and everything in between – Serenity knows she’s got a story no editor could resist. With London’s biggest tabloid on board and her very own column tracking Jeremy’s progress from dud to dude, Serenity is determined to be a success. But when Jeremy’s surgery goes drastically wrong and she’s ordered to cover all the car-crash goriness, Serenity must decide how far she really will go for her dream job.” This was the first book by Talli Roland that I’ve read, so I didn’t know what to expect

This Was My Very First Book Review! Wish You Were Here by Victoria Connelly

My Very First Official Book Review, Wish You Were Here by Victoria Connelly           Ok, here goes, my very first official book review on my very own blog. Eeeek! Im excited! What They Say: “A week on the sunny Greek island of Kethos is just what Alice Archer needs, even if she has to put up with her difficult sister. Stella’s tantrums and diva-like demands are a fair price to pay for crystal-clear waters, blue skies and white cliff top villas. When Alice meets Milo, a handsome gardener at the villa Argenti, for the first time she suddenly feels beautiful, alluring and confident. But is it just holiday magic or will the irresistible pull between Alice and Milo survive against all odds?” What I Say: This book is pure magic! The minute Alice arrived in Kethos, I felt like I was right there with her. I’ve never been to Greece, but I now feel as if I have. Victoria describe the blues of the sea and the sky so beautifully. You feel as if you can smell the summer blossoms and

Introductions (again)

Hi! I’m Trish, more commonly known in the online world as @Tishylou. I’m 37 and I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. I moved to Lancashire, UK in 2000 with my parents and my younger brother. My Mum passed away from lung cancer in May 2010 and my brother moved back to Canada last year, so now it’s just me and Pops. Oh, and Justin, He’s my fiance and business partner. We’ve been engaged for 12 years (no, I don’t know when we’ll get married!) and have worked together for about 10 of them. My world is pretty simple. I like books, Twitter, tea, music and friends. I have had some really tough times (haven’t we all?) and all of the above things have helped me to come through them and start a new fight. This blog is, I hope, somewhere I can thank my friends for their support, thank authors for writing fabulous books (and to some of you for becoming friends too) and just generally share with you what goes on in my head. It’s not always a pretty place, but we get by ok most of the time.

Welcome to My New Home!

Well, a lot of other people seem to be jumping ship and leaving Wordpress due to their recent policy changes regarding hosting blog tours and pre-prepared posts. It seems like a crazy policy to me and I suspect they will lose a lot of users due to this. Myself included. I need to be able to host pre -written posts and content in order to do my job as a book blogger. Authors like us to post things they have written and information that is necessary and relevant to their works. A lot of people seem to be moving to Blogger. I had a blog here a few years ago for our bus journey, which is still running, but hasn't been updated in a long time. This blog will be the same as my old one. Book stuff, life stuff and whatever else I feel like posting. I hope I don't lose any of my lovely followers during my move. I will still leave my Wordpress blog open, but will not use it much. I will start archiving my old book reviews and posts over here but it will take time, so please bear with
