Today marks the 25th anniversary of my Grandma's death. Grandma Irene was my Mums mother. She was your typical British grandma. We used to bake cakes together (always butterfly cakes, you know, the fairy cakes with the tops cut off and cream on top and the top put back on to look like butterfly wings), she made coconut ice and fudge and chocolate covered mint crèmes. She loved Tetley tea, Ribena and always had mint humbugs in her handbag. Grandma and Grandpa used to spend half of the year in England, where they were from and where their eldest daughter lived with her family, and the rest of the year was divided between Canada (where we used to live) and Florida (where my Uncle lives). For me, as a kid, this meant we got treats from both everywhere they went. From England, it was Ribena, banana milkshake, MacIntosh toffee, Starbursts and Smarties in a tube. From Florida, it was fresh citrus fruits. I used to love sleeping over at Grandmas on a Saturday night. We used to always wa

Blog Tour Stop - Everything Changes But You by Jennifer Joyce

I'm thrilled to be part of the blog tour for this amazing book! I love Jennifer's work and this book is sure to delight!   Everything Changes But You: Inspirational Films My second novel, Everything Changes But You was inspired by the many ‘magical’ films out there. I love films like Big and Freaky Friday where a wish is made and the characters are altered – either switching places with another person or transforming into an older/younger version of themselves. In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy is unhappy at home, but after being transported to a different land, she realises she wants nothing more than to be with her family again. I took both of these ideas and came up with Ally, who is fed up with her life. She loves her husband Gavin, but feels like they’re stuck in a rut. Ally is jealous of the life her colleague Kelly leads. Kelly is constantly regaling the office with her wild antics, and Ally wants a piece of that. She wants a fun, spontaneo

My Review of Saving Grace by Jane Green

Jane Green is one of my all time favourite authors. She's my Queen of Chick-Lit (or whatever you want to call it...). She is the author who made me want to write. So, I was very excited when I got the chance to review her new novel, Saving Grace (Thanks, Netgalley!). SAVING GRACE IS OUT TODAY! What They Say: Grace Chapman has an enviable set-up, living comfortably with her husband, bestselling author Ted, in a picture-perfect farmhouse on the Hudson River in New York state. Then Ted advertises for a new assistant, and Beth walks into their lives. Organized, passionate and eager to learn, Beth quickly makes herself indispensable to Ted and his family. But Grace soon begins to feel sidelined in her home - and her marriage - by this ambitious younger woman. Is Grace just paranoid, as her husband tells her, or is there more to Beth than there first appears? What I Say: Saving Grace is so different to Jane's other books. It's darker. Kind of like Girl
