Blog Tour Stop With Q & A - One In A Million by Lindsey Kelk

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for One In A Million by Lindsey Kelk! I am so excited to have a Q & A with Lindsey (my first one ever!!) and my review for this amazing book! I'm a bit of a mega fan of Ms Kelk so I felt weird doing a Q & A but I think I did ok. What do you think? Was I a complete knob?

What They Say:
Annie Higgins has given up on love: she's too busy trying to get her own business off the ground. Infuriated by the advertising agency across the hall making fun of her job, Annie accepts their crazy challenge - to make a random stranger Instagram-famous in just 30 days.

And even when they choose Dr Samuel Page PhD, historian and hater of social media, as her target, Annie's determined to win the bet - whether Sam likes it or not.

But getting to know Sam means getting to know more about herself. And before the 30 days are out, Annie has to make a decision about what's really important...
And here is my exclusive, very first ever Q & A!!
1. What inspired the story of One In A Million?
Lots of different threads came together to start the story but mostly it was my keen interest/obsession with social media and what it takes to become instafamous. I honestly find the whole thing fascinating and know so many people who actually work incredibly hard in their career as influencers, bloggers, bloggers and the like and really wanted to look at what really goes into that. I also know a lot of people who are utterly horrified by the very idea of social media and whenever two people are diametrically opposed on a subject, there's always comedy to be had. And the idea of blending those two situations into a Pygmalion/My Fair Lady storyline just made sense to me right away!

2. Do you know anyone in real life like Annie and Sam?
Oh absolutely. I'm 100% an Annie - always on my phone, always connected and possibly a little bit too much of a workaholic. As for Sam, I've dated more than one intellectual who thinks he's above social media. Apart from when they're checking out my Instagram stories, obviously... someone needs to explain how that whole thing works. I CAN SEE YOU.

3. How would you ideally like to spend your publication day?
Exactly the way I spent it this year! Had a lie in, went for a swanky lunch, put on a posh frock and then spent the evening with two of my favorite humans, Giovanna Fletcher and Paige Toon, talking about books with our readers! Nothing makes a book feel more real or more special than hanging out with the people who truly, truly love it. I still feel incredibly privileged to tell stories for a living and fancy launch parties are nice, of course, but nothing makes my heart sing like spending time with the people I actually write for. We all get so excited, I love it.
4. What has been your proudest career moment so far?
I've been a professional writer for ten years and it still doesn't feel real. The best moments are the ones when it does - reader events, meeting other authors, seeing your book in a bookshop. Myself, Gi and Paige just did a book tour and every night I tucked myself in, I had to do a quick reality check. I'm traveling around the country, meeting hundreds of people, laughing myself hoarse every day, all because I get to tell people stories? Madness.
5. What are your top 3 Bucket List items?
Do you know, I don't really have a bucket list! I really try to accomplish things when I think of them, otherwise I worry I'm setting myself up for regret. The only thing I really want to do and haven't, is visit Japan. I don't even have a good excuse as to why I haven't gone, it's just one of those thing that I always say I'm going to do but haven't managed yet. Maybe I should give myself a deadline then it stands a chance of happening. Or maybe Paige and I should set books there and go on a research trip!
Thank you sooo much Lindsey! That was really fun! Japan would be amazing and books set there by you and Paige would be awesome!

What I Say:
There are some authors where you just know you are in for a treat when you read their books and Lindsey Kelk is absolutely one of those authors. Each one of her books is funny, sweet, romantic and usually a bit naughty. One In A Million is no exception!
For me, the best part was gaining the insight into the world of digital marketing and the wider social media world. I mean, who knew it was so complex? I really enjoyed that aspect of the story. I adored Annie and Miranda too! They had me in stitches more than once.
When Annie begins her campaign to turn Samuel into an internet sensation, it seems hopeless. He basically doesn't exist in the digital world, so she really has her work cut out for her. And he's a bit of an odd ball too, so that doesn't make it any easier for her. But Annie is determined and she doesn't give up easily. That's what makes it so interesting to read, she's tenacious!
This is easily one of the most intriguing, funniest books Lindsey has written yet and I loved it! 9/10
One In A Million is out in ebook and paperback now!
Don't forget to follow the rest of the tour!

Thanks for Fliss Denham at Harper Fiction for sending me an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Why I'm Shaving My Head for Lancashire Women

Hi there! I know it's been ages since I've done a personal blog post.      Things have been... weird. I know the whole world has struggled getting used to this new normal and the new measures we have to follow. So many people have lost so much to COVID and my heart breaks for them. And while the virus itself hasn't changed my life very much, this time of lockdowns and self-isolating has been really hard for me too.      When it all first started to change, Steve was taken into hospital with a bunch of different symptoms. COVID wasn't really a thing then, so he wasn't tested for it, but looking back, we're pretty sure that's what it was. While he was in hospital in March, an inspector from the RSPCA came to check on the welfare of our dogs as they'd had a report that Sky, our GSD, was too skinny. She is petite, a slim girl who didn't have a good start in life but is spoilt rotten now, along with our other 2, Bella and Minnie. They had no concerns and

Blog Tour Stop with Review of A Truth For A Truth by Carol Wyer

First off, I must apologise to Zoe and Carol. My blog tour stop was yesterday, and somehow my post got lost in the ether. I didn't notice until today, as thr hubby hasn't been well, and my time has been taken up with my dogs and caring for hubs. So, a day late and pared down from my original post due to lack of time, here is my review of A.Truth For A Truth by the wonderful Carol Wyer. Review: What can I say?? Any book by Carol Wyer is going to be a hit in my opinion, and this is no exception. DI Kate Young is a flawed character who is full of heart and humility. I think she's been dealt a shit hand in life, and struggles to figure out her path. Traumas and dramas, untrustworthy men, and unstable mental health make her slightly difficult to bond with sometimes. But still, I care a lot about her wellbeing. This installment of her series is really compelling, and an interesting take on a "who dunnit". More of a "who will they THINK dunnit"! I loved that!
