My Review of Mad Girl by Bryony Gordon

Welcome to my Review of Mad Girl by Bryony Gordon! What They Say: Bryony Gordon has OCD. It's the snake in her brain that has told her ever since she was a teenager that her world is about to come crashing down: that her family might die if she doesn't repeat a phrase 5 times, or that she might have murdered someone and forgotten about it. It's caused alopecia, bulimia, and drug dependency. And Bryony is sick of it. Keeping silent about her illness has given it a cachet it simply does not deserve, so here she shares her story with trademark wit and dazzling honesty. A hugely successful columnist for the Telegraph, a bestselling author, and a happily married mother of an adorable daughter, Bryony has managed to laugh and live well while simultaneously grappling with her illness. Now it's time for her to speak out. Writing with her characteristic warmth and dark humour, Bryony explores her relationship with her OCD and depression as only she can. Mad Girl is a shocki...

Remembering My Mum

Every year, for the past 6 years, on this day I think of my late Mum with sadness. I'm sad that she is no longer here with me, that I can't call her for a chat or sit down for a cup of tea with her when I need advice or comfort. I'm sad that she'll never see me get married or bring her grandchildren into the world (if I should be lucky enough to have either of those happen). I'm sad that I am without the best friend I ever had. I don't normally do "It's not fair" or "Why me?" but I feel both of those things concerning my Mums death, aged just 60, from lung cancer. I know I'm lucky in a lot of ways. It was not a sudden death where we didn't get to say Goodbye. It wasn't long a drawn out where we had to watch her suffer. It was about 4 weeks from hospitalisation until the end. Long enough to love her just that little bit more. But not long enough to learn all the things I wish I'd learned from her or to tell her all the th...

The one they fell in love with… What I Say: First off I want to say a massive Thank You to Paige Toon, I had the pleasure of meeting her at a book signing in Manchester (where part of the book is set) last weekend and she was lovely! So kind and chatty and full of good advice. I actually left in tears. Beautiful lady! The One We Fell In Love With is a fantastic read! I absolutely adored the characters...
