Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for The Secret Admirer by Carol Wyer!!
What They Say:
The Secret Admirer: An absolutely gripping crime thriller (Detective Natalie Ward Book 6)
‘I tried to talk to you today but you snubbed me and walked away. It wasn’t wise to give
me the brush-off, Gemma. I can be a truly good friend but I also make the perfect enemy.’
Sasha’s eighteen-year-old daughter Gemma was all she had in the world. Sasha fell pregnant with Gemma when she was still at school, and the two are as close as sisters. So when Gemma’s burned and broken body is found, Sasha’s world ends. What kind of person would want her beautiful daughter dead?
Leading the case is Detective Natalie Ward, scarred by her own recent tragedy. When she finds a note in Gemma’s diary from a ‘secret admirer’, she moves quickly, determined to un-mask them. But interviews with Gemma’s devastated ex-boyfriend, and her charismatic teacher, who has been seen embracing his student far away from the classroom, don’t give Natalie the answers she’d hoped for…
And then the case takes a devastating, personal twist. CCTV footage reveals Natalie’s estranged husband David followed Gemma home every evening the week before she died.
Natalie is forced to put personal feelings aside and follow procedure, even though she can’t believe David could be guilty. But when Gemma’s housemate is found murdered, Natalie thinks the killer could still be at large. Is she right to trust her instincts about David and can she discover the truth before another precious life is taken?
Grippingly fast and nail-bitingly tense, The Secret Admirer will have you flying through the pages long into the night. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and Karin Slaughter.

What I Say:
I wasn't sure how Carol Wyer could follow the previous book in this series, The Blossom Twins, but I can assure you, she nailed it!
The Secret Admirer is breathtaking, creepy, sad and compelling. The story is so well woven, so intricate that I really didn't have it figured out at all. The twists and turns are plentiful and the suspense is real. The acts committed are tragic and disturbing but in a weird way, Carol makes you empathize with the killer. It's an odd thing, to feel sorry for a murderer. But somehow, you do.
DI Natalie Ward is one of my all-time favourite characters. She and her team are so efficient and professional, yet they remain human and likeable. The tragedy that surrounds them daily, both professionally and personally doesn't make them hard or unlikable at all. I just want to give Natalie a big hug and sit and have a glass of wine with her. I want her to be my friend.I can't wait to see what happens next! 10/10

Trish my heartfelt thanks for this wonderful review! I am still smiling several minutes after reading it (twice!) . Thank you for loving Natalie as much as I do and all er team. Each book I feel closer and closer to them and as for the murderers - well, sometimes, life makes them do things they regret and then they are powerless to stop what they started. Above all, thank you for reviewing the book, for taking part in the book tour and for sharing the book love. You are one of the many unsung heroes who generously give up their free time to support authors like me and oh, boy! Is it appreciated. Not long to find out what happens next in Natalie's life and what about David? Will he weaken again? Many thanks again and sending hugs to you. xx
