My Review of Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

WHAT THEY SAY: A MISSING GIRL. A BURIED SECRET. She was fifteen, her mother's golden girl.  She had her whole life ahead of her.  And then, in the blink of an eye, Ellie was gone. Ten years on, Laurel has never given up hope of finding Ellie. And then she meets a charming and charismatic stranger who sweeps her off her feet. But what really takes her breath away is when she meets his nine-year-old daughter. Because his daughter is the image of Ellie. Now all those unanswered questions that have haunted Laurel come flooding back. What really happened to Ellie? And who still has secrets to hide? WHAT I SAY: OHMIGOSH!!! This book!! Just phenomenal! Fast-paced, breathtaking, sad, creepy. This is a new level of brilliant from one of my favourite authors! A big change from her earlier fluffier, happy-ever-after rom-coms, Then She Was Gone is dark. It will draw you in and hold you by the throat until the very last word. It's unrelenting and sad, unlike any other book I h...

Review of Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

Welcome to my review of Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick! WHAT THEY SAY: A collection of humorous autobiographical essays by the Academy Award-nominated actress and star of Up in the Air and Pitch Perfect. "I'm excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I'd like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude and pettiness and the frequency with which I embarrass myself. And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well educated and accomplished comedy writers, I'm very, very funny on Twitter, according to BuzzFeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: Are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!" (Anna Kendrick) Anna Kendrick's autobiographical collection of essays amusingly recounts memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle-...

Blog Tour Stop - The Summer of Second Chances by Maddie Please

Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for The Summer of Second Chances by Maddie Please!!! This book looks so gorgeous and I'm really excited to have a special post from Maddie!! Guest Post from Maddie Please The Joy of Building. The second thing we wanted to do in our new home was knock a wall down. Not just for the fun of it but because we wanted to change two small rooms (kitchen, dining room) into one. That sounds easy doesn’t it? Knock a wall down. Ha! The work of a moment! Lend me a sledgehammer and I will be done by the weekend. Not so. The builders started work at the beginning of March to create a dustproof door between the kitchen and the rest of the house. (FYI - there is no such thing as a dustproof door. It’s a decoration) A couple of days later the first of 6 skips arrived. Plus a blue portaloo, which looked as though the Tardis had set down outside our house. #discreet? The builders were a jolly bunch who liked Cadbury’s Mini Rolls, tea, and Fox...

Another Year in England, Another Yearly Wrap Up

Well then! Today marks my 17th (SEVENTEENTH!!!) move-iversary! I have lived in England for 17 years today. That is madness!   This year has been the most eventful of my life! It has been the happiest, most secure and fun year I have experienced in my 39 (nearly 40!!) years. I have loads of photos to share with you. Most of you have shared the past year with me through my blog posts but if you haven't, here are the highlights.   In June last year Steve and I got together. In July I got my 4th tattoo, my 3D butterfly with SW on the bottom. In August we got engaged. In October we got our Pomeranian puppy Bella who is basically our first born child and we adore her. In January we got 2 baby bunnies and in April (I think) we got our Pomeranian boy Magic who we adore just as much! My brother and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Declan in November. We had our first Christmas together and it was magical! Since then, we've just been living our life, laugh...

Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for The Forget-Me-Not Flower Shop by Tracy Corbett! What They Say: Evie is busy running the Forget-Me-Not Flower Shop and praying for an uplift in sales as soon as possible. She might be in the market of selling romance, but for Evie a new man is the last thing she needs! That is until plumber Scott Castillo turns up to fix her boiler. She’s definitely not interested. But then, why does she keep ogling his rather attractive forearms? She’s been fooled before - she isn’t about to fall head-over-heels for some smooth-talker, right? When he isn’t trying to balance paying the bills with caring for his sick mother, Scott has stepped in to help parent his 18-year-old nephew, Ben.
