Blog Tour Stop with Review - As Far As The Stars by Virginia Macgregor

Welcome to my Stop on the Blog Tour for As Far As The Stars by Virginia Macgregor! I'm so excited for this tour and for you all to read this book!

What They Say:

How do you change what’s already written in the stars?
Christopher is the sort of guy that no one notices, yet when Air catches sight of him making intricate paper birds in the airport, she can’t look away.

But their worlds are about to collide in ways they never expected. Someone they love is on Flight 0217 from London Heathrow. And it’s missing.

Convinced that her brother was on a different flight, Air drives them hundreds of miles across the country, on a trip that will change their lives forever.

But how do you tell the person you’re falling for that you might just be the reason their life has fallen apart?

About The Author:

Virginia Macgregor was brought up in Germany, France and England by a mother who never stopped telling stories. From the moment she was old enough to hold a pen, Virginia set about writing her own, often late into the night. She was named after two great women, Virginia Wade and Virginia Woolf, in the hope she would be a writer and a tennis star. She never did make it to Wimbledon but her dream of becoming a writer has come true.

Virginia has written three novels for adults: What Milo Saw, The Return of Norah Wells and Before I Was Yours. Her fourth novel, Forgetting You, is coming out in spring 2018.

What I Say:

Virginia Macgregor is an author to watch. Her books to date have been wonderful, including my favourite, What Milo Saw.

As Far As The Stars is a novel aimed at the YA market but one that will resonate with any aged reader. Grief, loss and friendship are topics that everyone will deal with at some point in their lives. Exploring grief, particularly in young people is a sensitive subject but one which Macgregor handles beautifully.

Air and Christopher are such good characters. So very different in how they handle things but thrown together in an unlikely friendship. They need each other and kind of hold each other together while they try to come to terms with what is happening in their lives. They embark on a road trip to discover the truth about what has happened to the ones they love and hopefully gain some closure.

I feel like Air, in particular, would have been a lot more lost without Christopher.

I really enjoyed this story. I wept rather a lot. This book is quite beautiful. I felt connected to Air and I was drawn into the story. This isn't just a book, it's a journey; one I urge you to take. 9.5/10

As Far As The Stars is available now in Ebook and Paperback with HQ Stories.

Thanks to Nina Douglas at HQ for sending me an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Why I'm Shaving My Head for Lancashire Women

Hi there! I know it's been ages since I've done a personal blog post.      Things have been... weird. I know the whole world has struggled getting used to this new normal and the new measures we have to follow. So many people have lost so much to COVID and my heart breaks for them. And while the virus itself hasn't changed my life very much, this time of lockdowns and self-isolating has been really hard for me too.      When it all first started to change, Steve was taken into hospital with a bunch of different symptoms. COVID wasn't really a thing then, so he wasn't tested for it, but looking back, we're pretty sure that's what it was. While he was in hospital in March, an inspector from the RSPCA came to check on the welfare of our dogs as they'd had a report that Sky, our GSD, was too skinny. She is petite, a slim girl who didn't have a good start in life but is spoilt rotten now, along with our other 2, Bella and Minnie. They had no concerns and

Blog Tour Stop with Review of A Truth For A Truth by Carol Wyer

First off, I must apologise to Zoe and Carol. My blog tour stop was yesterday, and somehow my post got lost in the ether. I didn't notice until today, as thr hubby hasn't been well, and my time has been taken up with my dogs and caring for hubs. So, a day late and pared down from my original post due to lack of time, here is my review of A.Truth For A Truth by the wonderful Carol Wyer. Review: What can I say?? Any book by Carol Wyer is going to be a hit in my opinion, and this is no exception. DI Kate Young is a flawed character who is full of heart and humility. I think she's been dealt a shit hand in life, and struggles to figure out her path. Traumas and dramas, untrustworthy men, and unstable mental health make her slightly difficult to bond with sometimes. But still, I care a lot about her wellbeing. This installment of her series is really compelling, and an interesting take on a "who dunnit". More of a "who will they THINK dunnit"! I loved that!
