Beneath the Moon and the Stars by Amelia Thorne - Chapter 1 Sneak Peek

Beneath the Moon and the Stars is released on October 17th, the gorgeous new debut from Amelia Thorne. Here's the blurb Home, sweet home… Joy Cartier has been to some of the most beautiful places in the world – but none of them have ever felt like home. So moving into a tiny cottage in the idyllic village of Bramble Hill, walking distance from her childhood home, seems like the perfect plan. That is, until she gets there. The surly inhabitants of Britain’s Friendliest Village are anything but welcoming. Even her neighbour, reclusive Hollywood star Finn Mackenzie, takes one look at her and walks in the other direction. But when the village animosity steps up a gear, it is the infuriatingly brooding Finn who keeps coming to her rescue. Slowly Joy begins to realise that maybe a happy home isn’t about where you live, but who you’re with… You can read a sneak peek of the first chapter here... Prologue Joy crouched down behind the bush, her heart hammering aga...

My Review of Waiting For Doggo by Mark B Mills

I am so sorry I waited quite a while to read this book! It is so good! Waiting For Doggo is released on 20/11/2014 Thanks to Georgina Moore at Headline for sending me a copy of this in exchange for my honest review. What They Say: No-one ever called Dan a pushover. But then no-one ever called him fast-track either. He likes driving slowly, playing Sudoku on his iPhone, swapping one scruffy jumper for another. He's been with Clara for four years and he's been perfectly happy; but now she's left him, leaving nothing but a long letter filled with incriminations and a small, white, almost hairless dog, named Doggo. So now Dan is single, a man without any kind of partner whether working or in love. He's just one reluctant dog owner. Find a new home for him, that's the plan. Come on...everyone knows the old adage about the best laid plans and besides, Doggo is one special kind of a four legged friend...and an inspiration.   What I Say:    I had no idea w...

My Review of Somewhere To Hide (The Estate Series Book 1) by Mel Sherratt

What They Say: Cath Mason has learned to be tough. The things she’s seen growing up on the Mitchell Estate, she’s had to be. Yet, even broken and beaten by life at times, she’s still the first person a woman in need of help seeks out. At Cath’s house, there is safety in numbers as well as a place to hide from domestic abuse. No matter what trouble comes to her door, she won’t turn anyone away – because she knows what it’s like to live with secrets. But now a problem from her past has come back to haunt her, and she’s the one faced with a dilemma. What should she do first – help or be helped – despite being unsure she’ll ever be ready to confront her own demons? With danger around every corner, can Cath protect herself as well as the women whose safety is her paramount concern? Or has the potential for revenge already gone a step too far? SOMEWHERE TO HIDE is emotional and brutal, gripping and terrifying, psychological suspense. It is the first book in The Estate Series. What I Say:...

Today marks the 25th anniversary of my Grandma's death. Grandma Irene was my Mums mother. She was your typical British grandma. We used to bake cakes together (always butterfly cakes, you know, the fairy cakes with the tops cut off and cream on top and the top put back on to look like butterfly wings), she made coconut ice and fudge and chocolate covered mint crèmes. She loved Tetley tea, Ribena and always had mint humbugs in her handbag. Grandma and Grandpa used to spend half of the year in England, where they were from and where their eldest daughter lived with her family, and the rest of the year was divided between Canada (where we used to live) and Florida (where my Uncle lives). For me, as a kid, this meant we got treats from both everywhere they went. From England, it was Ribena, banana milkshake, MacIntosh toffee, Starbursts and Smarties in a tube. From Florida, it was fresh citrus fruits. I used to love sleeping over at Grandmas on a Saturday night. We used to always wa...
