Blog Tour Stop - The Promise by Katerina Diamond

What They Say:

When troubled teen Connor moves to Exeter from the US to escape his past, he finds himself embroiled in a world of popular kids and easy girls. Everyone wants to be his friend, but they don’t know about what he did…and they don’t know about his father.

As Connor’s life in England begins to unravel, DS Adrian Miles and his partner Imogen Grey are working up against the clock to catch a serial killer who dates his victims before he kills them. Determined to uncover the truth, Imogen is forced to act as bait – but will she take it too far and risk her own life?

Exclusive Extract from The Promise:

After finishing their meal, which consisted of the most expensive white wine on the menu, oysters, a seafood risotto and lemon torte, he insisted on paying the bill and they walked out together. He slipped his hand into hers and their fingers interlocked as they
walked along the streets. She didn’t want the night to end so they walked through the town together.

Instinctively she was taking him to her house. Erica wasn’t ready to let him go yet, not a after all this time of waiting to meet him. As they left the town and started walking towards the more residential area, he squeezed her hand. Had he figured out where she was taking him?

Warren kissed Erica on the cheek outside her house on the little side street in Exeter.
Thank you for coming, it was great to meet you,’ Erica said.
Was it everything you hoped for?’
And then some. What time will I see you tomorrow?’
She was testing him, to see if he might ask to come inside – she wanted him to ask.
I’ll text you when I’m awake’ he said, backing away slowly, a smile on his face.
She watched him turn and head in the direction of his hotel.
Wait!’ she called out.

He turned around. The smile even bigger than before; he knew what she wanted, and she hoped he wanted it too. He walked back towards her quickly and she took his hand, pulling him towards the house as she frantically fumbled around in her handbag for her keys.

They tugged at each other’s clothes as they went up the stairs. By the time they reached the top, they were both in their underwear. She pushed the bedroom door open and they laughed as they fell on the bed, their mouths separated for just long enough before locking back together again.

What I Say:

The Promise is a brilliantly creepy novel full of twists and turns. You think you have it figured out and then you learn you are wrong. This happened to me again and again.

Rich characters make this a book that you can really become immersed in. Imogen, in particular, was someone who I grew to care for. I wanted her to do well and was rooting for her all along. When she found herself in a difficult situation, I could have cried for her. Her whole team are brilliant and I loved the dynamics and they way they bounce off each other. They were great to read about and I look forward to more from them.

Connor was such a strong character. As a troubled teen, he had a lot of issues to deal with and I wasn't sure where he fit in to the big picture. He was hard to feel for at times, but at other times, he was so naïve and vulnerable that I just wanted to give him a hug and  cook him dinner. His side of the story was really gripping and gritty. I enjoyed it a lot.

Overall, this is one of the most intriguing books I have read in quite some time and I will absolutely be buying Katerina Diamond's back catalogue now. I thoroughly enjoyed The Promise!  9/10

My Review of Another Love by Amanda Prowse

Description ; "In the early years, she was happy. Romilly had worked hard for her stunning, modern house in one of Bristol's most fashionable suburbs. She adored her gorgeous, gap-toothed daughter and her kind and handsome husband. Sure, life was sometimes exhausting - but nothing that a large glass of wine at the end of the day couldn't fix. But then, as deep-buried insecurities surfaced, everything started to unravel. A glass of wine became a bottle; one bottle became two. Once, Romilly's family were everything to her. Now, after years of hiding the drinking, she must finally admit that she has found another love..." What I Say: I hadn't planned on posting my review of Another Love by Amanda Prowse yet as the book isn't out until (I believe) 16th January. However, I posted a brief review on Goodreads and Amanda has been sharing it on other social media so I thought she wouldn't mind. Another Love is a stunning, emotionally intense story of a wo...
