Blog Tour Stop with Review - An Eye For An Eye by Carol Wyer

Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for An Eye For An Eye by Carol Wyer!

What They Say:

A killer running rings around the police. A detective spiralling out of control.

DI Kate Young is on leave. She’s the force’s best detective, but her bosses know she’s under pressure, on medication and overcoming trauma. So after her bad judgement call leads to a narrowly averted public disaster, they’re sure all she needs is a rest.

But when Staffordshire Police summon her back to work on a murder case, it’s a harder, more suspicious Kate Young who returns. With a new ruthlessness, she sets about tracking down a clinical, calculating serial killer who is torturing victims and leaving clues to taunt the police. Spurred on by her reporter husband, Young begins to suspect that the murderer might be closer than she ever imagined.

As she works to uncover the truth, Young unravels a network of secrets and lies, with even those closest to her having something to hide. But with her own competence—and her grip on reality—called into question, can she unmask the killer before they strike again?

What I Say:

Well, I don't actually know WHAT to say about this book! Carol Wyer is absolutely one of my go-to authors, especially with her thrillers, as her dark mind is a very cool place to hang out.

An Eye For An Eye is the first in the series following DI Kate Young and her team. I was a bit sad, if I'm honest, to meet a new lead character. I had grown so fond of Robyn and Natalie and it was hard to let them go. I'm so glad I gave her the chance to introduce herself to me though. Kate is a huge role model. She's been traumatised in the worst possible way, yet she picks up, dusts off and does her job. She is conscientious, resilient, intelligent, compassionate and insightful, al while being approachable and warm. That can't be an easy balance to write. Yet Carol does so perfectly.

This case is super creepy and dark. The killer is sneaky and meticulous and it puts Kate and her team to the test. Together, Kate, Bradley, Emma and the forensics crew work all hours to crack this case and bring justice to the victims. I love that nothing is as it seems and every new development brings a twist that you just don't see coming.

Another brilliant series in the making from a brilliant writer! 10/10

Blog Tour Stop with Review of A Truth For A Truth by Carol Wyer

First off, I must apologise to Zoe and Carol. My blog tour stop was yesterday, and somehow my post got lost in the ether. I didn't notice until today, as thr hubby hasn't been well, and my time has been taken up with my dogs and caring for hubs. So, a day late and pared down from my original post due to lack of time, here is my review of A.Truth For A Truth by the wonderful Carol Wyer. Review: What can I say?? Any book by Carol Wyer is going to be a hit in my opinion, and this is no exception. DI Kate Young is a flawed character who is full of heart and humility. I think she's been dealt a shit hand in life, and struggles to figure out her path. Traumas and dramas, untrustworthy men, and unstable mental health make her slightly difficult to bond with sometimes. But still, I care a lot about her wellbeing. This installment of her series is really compelling, and an interesting take on a "who dunnit". More of a "who will they THINK dunnit"! I loved that!
