Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for The Storm by Amanda Jennings. I'm so excited to bring you my review of this incredible book!
What They Say:
To the outside world Hannah married the perfect man. Behind the closed doors of their imposing home it’s a very different story. Nathan controls everything Hannah does. He chooses her clothes, checks her receipts, and keeps her passport locked away. But why does she let him?
Years before, in the midst of a relentless storm, the tragic events of one night changed everything. And Hannah has been living with the consequences ever since. Keeping Nathan happy. Doing as she’s told.
But the past is about to catch up with them.
Set against the unforgiving backdrop of a Cornish fishing port in the ‘90s, this is a devastating exploration of the power of coercive control in a marriage where nothing is quite as it seems…

What I Say:
What a book!!! Sublimely atmospheric, dark, tense and suspenseful with a powerful sense of foreboding throughout. Such believable characters that you doubt and love and doubt again. Nathan and Hannah appear to have the perfect marriage but behind closed doors things are very far from perfect. Nathan controls absolutely every aspect of Hannah's life. He counts the pennies from the change when she's been shopping, the clothes she wears and the meals they eat each day on rotation. While reading this book, you wonder why Hannah stays. I understand that kind of relationship, the coercive control and sense loyalty. But there is so much more to Hannah than meets the eye. What is keeping her there?
This book features stunning scenery and hugely engrossing descriptions of Cornwall. The sea plays a huge part in this story and in the lives of the characters, in particular, Cam, who was Hannah's first love. His story is complex and the triangle that is played out is so gripping.
I loved everything about this book. It's an intense slow burner that will blow your socks off! 10/10
