So, when they get the chance to spend a whole summer at the cottage in Lakeside where the film adaptation was located, they know it is going to be the holiday of a lifetime.
Spending six weeks away will give them a chance to re-evaluate their life choices. For Emily to decide which way her career will go – the safe route, or the more risky creative option? And for Rachel to decide whether to move in with her partner Jeremy. Her stories are always heart-warming, charming and sweet. But that's not to say there is no drama and angst too. The BLR is absolutely typical Heidi style, but it's also much, much more.

This story about a group of friends who are fanatics of a certain book and the subsequent film adaptation, which is set in the Lake District. I absolutely adored a book being set "oop North", particularly as Heidi usually writes about locations I've never visited, but am desperate to. The book and film featured is entirely fictional, (I had to ask Heidi, as it all seems so real and plausible, and I want to read THAT book too!), but would make a great follow on book for all of us who have read and loved BLR. I feel like that made no sense, but I know what I was trying to say!

The characters are absolute perfection (except one, and IYKYK). The dialogue was so easy to follow, and flowed perfectly.

<span style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">

<span style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif;">Honestly, I can't fault a single second of this book! My blog tour stop was yesterday, and somehow my post got lost in the ether. I didn't notice until today, as thr hubby hasn't been well, and my time has been taken up with my dogs and caring for hubs. So, a day late and pared down from my original post due to lack of time, here is my review of A.Truth For A Truth by the wonderful Carol Wyer.

Review:

What can I say?? Any book by Carol Wyer is going to be a hit in my opinion, and this is no exception.

DI Kate Young is a flawed character who is full of heart and humility. I think she's been dealt a shit hand in life, and struggles to figure out her path. Traumas and dramas, untrustworthy men, and unstable mental health make her slightly difficult to bond with sometimes. But still, I care a lot about her wellbeing.

This installment of her series is really compelling, and an interesting take on a "who dunnit". More of a "who will they THINK dunnit"! I loved that!

You need to read it, like, now! Trust me. Just read it.

8.5/10

Tishylouhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10756387349236365871noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4956298409110261114.post-78998786896054477142023-03-02T10:00:00.014+00:002023-03-02T10:00:00.166+00:00Blog Tour Stop with Review of Together Again by Milly Johnson

Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for Together Again by Milly Johnson!!

What They Say:

Sisters Jolene, Marsha and Annis have convened at their beautiful family home, Fox House, following the death of their mother, the tricky Eleanor Vamplew. Born seven years apart, the women are more strangers than sisters.

Jolene, the eldest, is a successful romantic novelist who writes about beautiful relationships even though her own marriage to the handsome and charming Warren is complicated.

Marsha, the neglected middle child, has put all of her energy into her work, hoping money will plug the gap in her life left by the man who broke her young heart.

Annis is the renegade, who left home aged sixteen and never returned, not even for the death of their beloved father Julian. Until now.

So when the sisters discover that their mother has left everything to Annis in her will, it undermines everything they thought they knew. Can saying their final goodbyes to Eleanor bring them together again?

Together, Again is the story of truths uncovered and lies exposed, of secrets told – and kept. It is a novel about sister helping sister to heal from childhood scars and finding in each other support, forgiveness, courage and love.

The gorgeous Milly!

What I Say:

There's one thing you can guarantee with a Milly Johnson book, and that is feeling!

The Vamplew sisters got me. I adored reading about them!

I like this change in direction for Milly. Normally, she writes happy families, loving parents, and cheerful siblings, but Together Again is quite different. There's more tension and drama, and I loved it! Don't get me wrong, the heart of the story is what you'd hope from Milly.

I adored this book, and I felt like I bonded with the sisters (and of course, John Abruzzi). There she runs a bar overlooking Darling Cove, a heavenly horseshoe-shaped beach named after her seafaring ancestors, whose links to the Farne Islands stretch back centuries.

Logan is a famous photographer desperate to evade the limelight after a difficult break-up. Renting a cottage from Eve, he chooses Ennisfarne in the hope of anonymity but is immediately spellbound by its natural beauty.

The pair don’t get off to the best start, butting heads over Eve’s adorable but boisterous Chocolate Labrador. But when Logan's true identity is revealed, Eve realises her new tenant isn’t quite the man she thought he was. Is it too late to start again or will Logan’s island escape be over almost before it’s begun?

What I Say:

Escape To Darling Cove was just the tonic I needed after a tough week.

The setting is absolutely idyllic and I want to visit, like now! Even the bad weather sounded delightful. I love the idea of such a close-knit community, where everyone helps each other.

I loved the cast of characters too! Logan, Eve, Huxley, Aiden, Selena, Freda, and especially Freda's niece Tish (named after ME!) were all fab and fun to get acquainted with. I loved the chemistry between certain pairs and the joy that Huxley brought, with his boundless lab energy!

This book is absolutely lovely and the perfect way to escape, just as the title says! 9/10

Thanks to S&S for sending me an early copy in exchange for my honest review!

Hurt, heartache and childhood trauma are at the heart, along with characters that will haunt you. It's dark but hopeful and I genuinely don't think I have to vocabulary to make sense of my thoughts. I hate when that happens.

I was lucky enough to have read this book back when it was first published as The Judas Scar. It was one of my first review books and I've been a fan of Amanda Jennings ever since. I decided to ignore that fact and read this as if it was brand new to me. I'm very glad I did as I got to experience it for the first time again. I remember being very emotional and haunted when I first read it but I have healed a lot since then. I didn't take the story so personally this time and I loved it even more.

Three's A Crowd comes with high praise from fellow authors so I was quite excited to read it. The premise sounded hilarious and quite unique, unlike any other book I've read.

The 3 main characters, Tom, Richard and Harriet end up tangled in a very odd love triangle type situation and the way the story unravels is very clever. I really liked Harriet, she was determined, funny and sweet. Tom and Richard, however, both grated on me more than a little.

I liked it this book. I laughed a fair few times and there some Oh Wow moments that I really enjoyed.

I particularly liked the final third of the book. It was unexpected, fun and exciting!

Overall, I say 7/10.

A new book from Heidi Swain is one of my favourite things ever! A new Christmas book from Heidi Swain is very top of my wishlist!

You can't go wrong with a cosy festive frolic, especially when it's set in and around Wynthorpe Hall and the Winter Wonderland! I adored returning to the Hall and revisiting old friends and meeting some wonderful new ones! Oh, the nod to Wynters tree farm... Ned... Swoon!

I adored Paige, Albert and Brodie. It was fab catching up with Molly and taking a peep inside The Cherry Tree Cafe and the Market Square. I so want to live in a village created by Heidi and full of her characters. How idyllic?!

The first is that you will need tissues handy. The second is that you will be thinking about the story long after you've turned the last page.

From Now On isn't your typical love story. It's so multi-layered and complex. It's heartbreaking, raw, sweet, funny and thought-provoking.

The characters are just incredibly believable. How do you review a memoir written by one of your favourite, drop-everything-and-read authors who you've been lucky enough to become friends with? Well, here goes nothing...

Women Like Us is a brutally honest and thought provoking memoir, written by a 50 something woman who also happens to have sold millions of copies of her 30+ books worldwide. It is raw, emotional, relevant and heartbreaking. It is hopeful, full of love and inspiring.

Mandy lays it all out in this book. Nothing is taboo or off limits. This is so admirable and it's what sets #WLU apart from so many other memoirs out there. There are certain topics that resonated hard with me; miscarriage, depression and food addiction. I have found hope and positivity within these pages that I plan on taking forward. I am going to make changes to my life and will happily credit Amanda Prowse with my new found ambition and confidence.

In short, if you are a woman, buy this book. If you know a woman, buy her this book. Adele has been a go-to author for years and it's crazy but true that every book is better than the one before.

One Last Secret is no exception to this rule. Dora's story is so emotional. It's tragic, sad, terrifying, dramatic and full of loss. It's also full of hopes and dreams, love and longing. Dora is just like most women, she wants a better life for those she cares about.

The path her life takes isn't easy at all. She got into the life of an escort when she was really young and thirsty for a better life. It served her well and Dora was always in control. Until she wasn't. Things take a dark turn one she agrees to one last job...

This book had me on the edge of my seat! I was totally engrossed and invested in Dora's story from the first page. I absolutely loved One Last Secret! 11/10

You're in for a treat!

<span face=""Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #0f1111; font-size: 15px;">What They Say:

<span face=""Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #0f1111; font-size: 15px;">Beth loves her job working in a care home, looking after its elderly residents, but she doesn’t love the cramped and dirty house-share she currently lives in. She gave up her hopes and dreams to care for her and lost all joy she used to find in the thing she loved most, music. Then there's Eli. (Pardon me while I mop up the drool). I did enjoy the premise of a really ill girl being kept safe all her life, bundled away from the world by her loving mother but it seemed a touch far fetched that Mother could maintain the story for 16 years.

Esther is an odd character. She's likeable but extremely naive and unquestioning. That bothered me a little. I wished her well but wasn't 100% invested in her.

An interesting concept and plenty of drama and suspense. 7/10

Thanks to the Team at HQ for allowing me to read an advanced Ecopy of this book.
Tishylouhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10756387349236365871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4956298409110261114.post-33416342877921586522022-01-21T11:31:00.002+00:002022-01-21T11:31:22.998+00:00Blog Tour Stop with Review - All For You by Louise Jensen

Welcome to my Blog Tour Stop for All For You by Louise Jensen! I mean, I knew All For You would be a great read, Louise's books always are, but this one excelled itself! The story is so tense, so emotional and so driven that I had no idea "who dunnit" until right at the end.

Connor and his family really made me feel for them. Then struggles they endure are so heartbreaking and sad. Lucy and Aidan just want the best for their boys and are facing the reality that it is completely out of their control sometimes.

The drama is so real and tense, I often found myself holding my breath. I didn't want to stop reading for a single second but I also didn't want this brilliant book to end. Louise is a genuinely great storyteller! She just gets family, she draws from personal experiences and you can really feel that in her writing. i cried several times while reading this book. I didn't expect to cry. It's just so, so powerful.

Excellent, thrilling family drama that you'd be crazy to miss! 9.5/10

All For You is out now in Paperback! The code of the good dog is clear. When single mother Tuesday took on mongrel pup Stupendo, she made a friend for life. Through the best and the worst of times, Stupendo has been there for her. Ever faithful, ever loyal, ever true. Nothing could break their bond. For the people of Wynmouth it’s where they get their family Christmas tree, and where Christmas truly comes to life.
But for Liza Wynter, it’s a millstone around her neck. It was her father’s pride and joy but now he’s gone, she can’t have anything to do with it. Until her father’s business partner decides to retire and she must go back to handle the transition to his son Ned.
When Liza arrives, she discovers a much-loved business that’s flourishing under Ned’s stewardship. And she’s happy to stay and help for the Christmas season, but then she has other plans. But will the place where she grew up make her change her mind? And can it weave its Christmas cheer around her heart…?

What I Say:

Where to start? Well, for me there are two authors who make Christmas better with their books. One is Milly Johnson. The other is our Heidi Swain. She is the Queen of festive feelings and her winter books always make me cosy and give all the feels!

Liza is the best friend I wish I had. I adore everything about her and feel like we'd bond instantly. She's warm but jaded due to her past heartaches, fierce when she needs to be and she is strong. I loved the way she develops relationships in this story, they feel so natural. Heidi is great at that!

As for Ned... What to say? From the moment we first meet him, I kinda fell a leeeetle bit in lust. I think he's my new book boyfriend! Hands off girls, he's mine!

This was my first Christmas book of the year and it has certainly set the bar high! I loved it so much, I'm already planning a re-read! 11/10

Follow the rest of the tour here:

Thank you to S&S and Team BATC for sending me an early copy and some festive goodies!

Tishylouhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10756387349236365871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4956298409110261114.post-31320125822134096842021-07-25T10:00:00.001+01:002021-07-25T10:00:00.156+01:00Blog Tour Stop with Review - The Beginner's Guide To Loneliness by Laura Bambrey

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for The Beginner's Guide To Loneliness by Laura Bambrey!

What They Say:

<span style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-weight: 700;">The perfect feel-good read from an exciting new voice in women’s fiction, for fans of Heidi Swain, Cathy Bramley and Jenny Colgan.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #0f1111; font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">Tori Williamson is alone. Where you can learn to move mountains by picking up the smallest of stones…

What I Say:

For starters, I can hardly believe that this is a debut novel. Everything about it scream veteran author!

Tori is the most likeable character and I would be her friend in a flash. We've had similar experiences and traumas and, just one year ago, I felt as lost as she did. Her online friends are her biggest support, just like mine are. But Tori has an incredible gift for writing and being open and honest on her blog. I admire that.

When Tori goes to The Farm, things are bleak for her and she needs a change. What will she find? I loved the journey she took and the people (most of them!) that she took it with. Bay and Dennis, Rowan, Doreen... They were all the perfect people for her to be surrounded by.

I want to go on a retreat like this! I also want a sequel to Tori's story. I need to know if she gets her happily ever after, Laura!!

This is top of my BOTY list for Best Debut of 2021! I've read it twice and will no doubt read it again! Also highly recommended to my online bestie, Anna. But I liked it! I really felt for Sally, growing up with her mother always chasing something bigger and brighter. The child was whisked around the world on her Mother's whims and eternal quest for love and adventure. In some ways, this would have been an exciting and alternative education, but in others it must have been terribly lonely and often confusing.

I don't really know how to review tbis book.

I’ve always dreamed of being a writer and when my first novel - Playing Away - was published the Evening Standard identified me as one of London’s ‘Twenty Faces to Watch’, which was very nice of them!

I like to keep busy and I’ve published 20 novels, and I'm thrilled to say that they've all hit the bestseller lists. Lies Lies Lies and Just My Luck have secured the top spot and are Sunday Times #1 bestsellers. Whoop whoop, thanks to every single person who has ever bought a copy of one of my novels. There must be a lot of you as I've sold over 3.8 million books in the UK alone and I've been translated into 26 different languages.

I have written 18 contemporary novels and 2 historical ones, Spare Brides and If You Go Away, which are set during and after WW1. I'm happiest writing twisty, domestic noirs as I like to scrutinize our concepts of family, our theories on love, parenting and fidelity. There's nothing more fun than taking ordinary people and placing them under extraordinary stress - at least in novels!

If you want to stay in touch you can find me on Twitter @AdeleParks, Instagram @Adele_Parks or Facebook @OfficialAdeleParks.

What I Say:

Adele Parks is one of my absolute favourite authors and whenever a new book arrives, I drop everything and start it immediately.

Both of You is dark, twisted and gripping. text-align: center;">

What They Say:

A killer running
rings around the police. A detective spiralling out of control.

DI Kate Young is on
leave. She’s the force’s best detective, but her bosses know
she’s under pressure, on medication and overcoming trauma. So after
her bad judgement call leads to a narrowly averted public disaster,
they’re sure all she needs is a rest.

But when
Staffordshire Police summon her back to work on a murder case, it’s
a harder, more suspicious Kate Young who returns. With a new
ruthlessness, she sets about tracking down a clinical, calculating
serial killer who is torturing victims and leaving clues to taunt the
police. Spurred on by her reporter husband, Young begins to suspect
that the murderer might be closer than she ever imagined.

As
she works to uncover the truth, Young unravels a network of secrets
and lies, with even those closest to her having something to hide.
But with her own competence—and her grip on reality—called into
question, can she unmask the killer before they strike again?

<strike></strike>

What I Say:

Well, I don't actually know WHAT to say about this book! Carol Wyer is absolutely one of my go-to authors, especially with her thrillers, as her dark mind is a very cool place to hang out.

An Eye For An Eye is the first in the series following DI Kate Young and her team. I was a bit sad, if I'm honest, to meet a new lead character. I had grown so fond of Robyn and Natalie and it was hard to let them go. I'm so glad I gave her the chance to introduce herself to me though. Kate is a huge role model. She's been traumatised in the worst possible way, yet she picks up, dusts off and does her job. She is conscientious, resilient, intelligent, compassionate and insightful, al while being approachable and warm. That can't be an easy balance to write. Yet Carol does so perfectly.

This case is super creepy and dark. The killer is sneaky and meticulous and it puts Kate and her team to the test. Together, Kate, Bradley, Emma and the forensics crew work all hours to crack this case and bring justice to the victims. I love that nothing is as it seems and every new development brings a twist that you just don't see coming.

Another brilliant series in the making from a brilliant writer! 10/10

About The Author:

USA
